Hello to all as the weather is finally getting nicer! Hooray! Just wanted to give you all a quick update.... still currently in the studio working hard to try to get the new [still untitled] album out as soon as possible. I'm still shooting for late May if all goes well. Also, for the time being, I've settled myself into a nice residency at Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso, IN every Thursday night from 5:30-8:30. It is a restaurant and they are featuring half off bottles of wine, so come on out for some good food, drinks, and music! That's about it for the updates today. Take Care~K

February.05.2008

I'm sorry to all that come to this website and see how poorly maintained it is. That is no other fault but mine, so please forgive me. It's amazing how difficult it is to follow up on all these websites! In any event, I am currently in the studio to record my still untitled third album, which I hope to release this May. I am always dreaming of touring again, but at this moment I haven't the time to dedicate to booking yet. But hopefully soon. And if there are any of you out there who would love to help me out, by all means! Please do! Aside from these small updates, I hope the new year is going as planned. Take care ~ Kate

July.24.2007

What a long time it's been, everyone. I've been working to make some money for upcoming tours, of which the schedules will be posted as soon as they are booked. I've also been writing quite a few new tunes. But I come writing this entry to fill you in on something very special that is happening right now. A few months ago, I flew to NYC to do a live recording and short interview with Billboard Magazine for the website www.billboard.com. I am their featured artist for the underground video section! This underground video thing is awesome... they choose artists, some signed, some (like me) unsigned and give them great exposure to so many people who are always looking for new bands. I know I always like hearing about new bands with new sounds and that's exactly what they provide to everyone. So check out my video at http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/video/underground.jsp and let the guys at Billboard know what you think! I'd really appreciate it. I'm very proud of this little video.

Also, on August 4th, I am opening for a wonderful show that will be taking place at the Opera House in Valparaiso, IN. The show is a cd release party for the Planetary Blues Band, and awesome group of fellas who mix funk, soul, rock, reggae, and more into their own music. And the night is just going to be incredible. The tickets are $10 dollars and you can contact me on my myspace (www.myspace.com/kateamyers) or my booking address (booking@katemyers.com) to let me know if you want any tickets. The show will be recorded live in sound and on video. I'm trying to put together a little documentary video of my tours and shows and I'm sure this will be included, so show yourself and hear yourself in the crowd! Experience some really awesome music at a really awesome place. The show starts at 7pm. So be there or be square. I love you all. Take care ~ K

April.10.2007

Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I've been quite busy. Since this is my first really long tour, I'm still getting used to life on the road. And I'm not really connected to the internet as often as I thought. Please forgive me. We're in Austin right now. I want to thank everyone who has come out to all our shows since I last wrote. We've met some lovely people along the way and I assume we will continue to do so. And thank God for all of you lovelies who have let us crash and shower at your house after the shows. We GREATLY appreciate it. Today is a day off and I think that The Skies and I are going to be seeing Grindhouse. I'm stoked. I just hope I can sit through the four hours it's supposed to be. I'm a little ADD after 2 hours. For all of you who came out to the shows in Dallas and D.F.W., please come out to the house show tomorrow night. Details on The Skies We Built myspace (www.myspace.com/theskieswebuilt) I lack the motivation to put up all the addresses and what not. I guess that's pretty lazy and unprofessional of me. But hey! It's hard to do everything myself! Well, as the weather gets warmer, I hope to keep you more updated than I have. Until then, take care ~ K

April.01.2007

The first journal entry on my tour with The Skies We Built. I am on my third day of tour and I'm loving the road. I've secured my spot in the very back of the van and take note of the scenery evertime we drive. We are in Kansas City, MO and we have a lovely set up of beds and a shower adjacent to the venue space, which is aweseome and very convenient. I had pictured tour to be really gritty with not much showering and all of us sleeping in the van, but so far, so good. We've had wonderful hosts to house us and feed us, which we appreciate very very much. Our show last night was at an art gallery in Jacksonville, IL where I was able to buy some cooky stuff, such as an amish car air freshener... ask me about it later. So far, not much zany stuff has occured, but hey... we're only in the first three days. I can tell you that being on the road with four guys is quite a trip. Needless to say, they love to pick on me every now and then. But they're my boys. And if you're reading this and you've never heard of The Skies We Built, check them out at www.myspace.com/theskieswebuilt and you will be very impressed. I'm going to try to write as often as I can, given that my computer can pick up some wireless. Until the next time, take care ~ K

January.02.2007

Well, I hope that everyone had a wonderful celebration of the coming of the year 2007. Mine was lovely, filled with Cat Power, Gnarls Barkley, and the Flaming Lips. There has been a change of plans. My hopes to move out to LA have been postponed due to the fact that I will be opening for The Skies We Built (www.myspace.com/theskieswebuilt) on a national tour for 70 days. We are booking as we speak, but will have the dates up as soon as possible. I'll keep you as updated as possible. Until next time, take care and work towards those resolutions! ~K

November.16.2006

Well, I've seemed to keep myself quite busy these days. I went to NYC for the CMJ Music Marathon. Attended some great panels and some awesome shows (The Rapture, The Knife, Deerhoof, and Willy Mason to be exact). Then, I flew out to LA where I attended the TAXI Road Rally Music Convention with my brother. I happened to learn a great deal with those two conferences. And I've made the decision to move out to Los Angeles to try to get my career poppin' a little more. I leave around the 8th of February, so any show that is in the Chicagoland area or the Northwest Indiana area will be my last for quite awhile. I have plans to tour, but with being on the west coast and all, it's a great stretch to the midwest... I hope for a summer tour in August all around the midwest (after a couple months playing and travelling in Europe, which is becoming more of a tradition now). But if things go well, maybe I can make it out earlier than August. Who knows!? This business is crazy and there are no plans. You can do whatever you like wherever you like. I love it! And as excited as I am to leave the snow (when it does in fact decide to fall) for sunshine and palm trees, I will be missing many of you that come to see my shows regularly. And I apprecitate greatly all the support you have given me over the past years and I have to thank you all a little bit for lighting a fire under my ass to move out of Indiana to the City of Angels where musicians are as common as cornfields (here). So, thanks to all!.. I know this is a bit early to be saying thank you's and what not, but the holidays are a comin' and these next months will move by quickly. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukah (or a wonderful any other tradition celebrated!), and have a lovely, lovely New Year! Take Care ~ K

p.s. I just wanted to let you know that since my first CD isn't for sale on cdBaby or iTunes like Blanket Sky is, you can buy it at www.broadjam.com/katemyers and there is a link for it on links page. OK, BYE!

October.01.2006

Well, it has been quite some time since my last entry, but I spent that last three days singing and playing with wonderful bands all around Indiana. I want to thank the Planetary Blues Band and the Diggity for sharing the stage with me this weekend at Purdue and IU. I had wonderful wonderful times with all of you. If you see, I'm not playing out much so I can give myself some time to write. It seems my writers block is slowly disappearing and I'm hoping to plug out some songs and start working on another album. But in the meantime, please stop by any show and say hello! Until later, take care ~ K

August.27.2006

So, as we speak, I'm in the studio in New York with good 'ole Sebastian. We're doing some rough cuts of three new songs. I'm hoping to start writing some more songs so I can get a solid new album done by Spring (maybe earlier if we're lucky). I've got a couple shows with some incredible arists coming up. I'm playing with Anais Mitchell in Highland on Sept. 18th. If you're around the area, you sould definitely check her out. She has had a big influence on me since I played with her for the fist time two years ago at Bard. If you like my music, you will without a doubt fall in love with her music. So, as I sit here with my belly full of sweet potato tempura rolls, I'll leave you with a list of my favorite places to eat in the Hudson River Valley region before I go sing some more : Osaka, Luna 61, Terrapin, China Rose, Taste Buds. Take care ~ K

August.09.2006

Hello everybody! I'd like to take this chance to promote the PINK benefit concert I have put together. We have a wonderful lineup of talented artists and I would like to invite everyone to come and share a lovely experience out at the Sunset Hill Farms ampitheatre. To see who's playing, check out my Shows section. Hopefully the day will bring much sun and much love and you can come and have a picnic, throw a frisbee, do as you please. The benefit supports the Porter County Cancer Society, the VNA Hospice Center, and The Caring Place. It's $10 for adults, $5 for students and children, free for kids 6 and under. Water will be sold, but food will not, so if you think you'll get hungry, bring munchies! I would really appreciate it if those of you who read this help me out by spreading the word. Last year was a success and I'd like to try to have an even bigger success this year! Help out the community and support good causes, while listening to incredible music. I hope to see you all there. Take care ~ K

August.01.2006

Well, I am officially finished with the Europe Tour and I am completely satisfied. My experiences on these little tours overseas leave me anticipating for the next time I can come back and embark on new, crazy adventures. I suspect the next time I will come back will be in August of next year, for all those over here who I met and will look forward to seeing again. I leave to go back to the US in about 3 hours with many shows coming up in Highland, Valparaiso, Chicago, and Indianapolis in the next couple weeks for all those friends waiting back home :). Until then, take care ~ K

July.26.2006

So, I havenīt written in awhile. Iīve sort of taken my vacation this week. (sort of). I havenīt had shows because in Spain everyone is at the beach or in the mountians, which I understand, so thereīs not much room for live music when people arenīt around to hear it. Itīs no problem for me. All my family is here and Iīve had a wonderful time reconnecting, as I always do. Iīve been able to dedicate a lot of time to the dirty work of booking shows, emailing, networking, doing all the internet stuff that takes hours and hours to do and causes horrible back aches. I have a show tomorrow in Manresa, where most of my family resides. I think itīs my last of the tour. Then, Iīm back home in Valpo on Tuesday the 2nd and have a wonderful ride of shows to follow for the next week or so. Come out to a show so I can see all your beautiful faces Iīve missed for the last month. Take care, all - K

July.17.2006

I've learned so much being here... about my mother, my grandfather, my ancestors, the history of Andorra, the culture here. I've witnessed natural beauty like nothing I've ever seen. And I know that everytime I visit, I will only learn more. And I'm excited for that. Tonight's show went very well. The bands I played with, Soul Primes and Jordi Botey, were most excellent and so very kind. It makes me happy that it was only a semester ago I was able to refresh my Spanish. Otherwise it would have been a more difficult time exchanging words with the band members backstage. :) I'm excited to have newspaper clippings, a copy of the television interview, many many pictures, invitations, and posters to take back with me to the states all to remember this day and this experience. It will add wonderfully to the scrapbook. Thank you to all who came out tonight and showed support. I truly appreciate it. Good night ~ K

July.14.2006

An exit from London via Toulouse, FR took me on a bus ride through the Pyrenees to the beatiful country Andorra where my cousin Juli resides. The first time on the trip that I've had three hours to quietly dedicate to my iPod and my thoughts. I watched nature from the inside of that non-airconditioned bus, winding through the mountains and hillsides, over trees and it reminded me of Bjork's "Joga" music video. I could see the mountains splitting and forming in my head. It was a nice time to reflect on all that went on during my time in the UK. I've learned a bit from London. 1. No gigs pay you 2. Noboby buys your CD's, or any CD's for that matter 3. There are wonderful people to network with there that make up for the lack of #'s 1 & 2. 4.TOPSHOP is incredible 5. I can now make my way about the tube station's without Abby's help. There are more things, but it's too late. I'm too tired. Yet I'm happy to be here and excited for the show in Andorra. I'm excited to learn about my roots (aka mom... and more) from the people who can live to tell more stories than I've been able to yank out of the American side of my family. I'll leave it at that. ~ K

July.11.2006

It's amazing to meet people here who deal with music as their lifetime careers. It's inspiring. I keep being told that London is a rough place for musicians because you need to impress. Everyone here wants to be impressed. And as much as that may seem intimidating, the few people that genuinely appreciate what you do and the art you create and talk to you for hours about how you need to keep at it because it's worth it make it so worthwhile. These people make this experience beautiful. I've met such wonderfully supportive people that don't really know me, as I don't know them either, but the music brings us together to stay in each others company comfortably... a few beers, for them, many cigarettes, good laughs, and conversations of pride and motivation that could last you for years. Forgive me if I'm getting a bit deep, but sometimes it's hard to play to people when you can see they don't care... you play the same songs over and over again to the point where you're sick to death of them, but you play them because many have not heard them before. It sometimes seems redundant... until those few incredible beings step in to say something that rips away at all you think is redundant. Thank you to my new friends. ~ K

July.03.2006

Well, it's off to Europe. I paid $6.95 for 24 hours of Internet service in O'Hare and my flight leaves in 2 hours... I'm getting really excited about playing across the big ole lake. Last time I only had 3 gigs. This time I'm around 13 or 14. Though, I have no clue when my gigs are in Spain because my cousin hasn't sent me the confirmed dates and times yet. He's a busy guy. I also don't have the Andorra date, but I bet that most of you won't be making that except for the Andorrans. If anything amazing happens, I'll be sure to let you know. Until then, TTFN - ta ta for now ~ K

June.04.2006

I want to thank everyone that came out to the show and bought a cd. I really appreciate it. Check back soon for upcoming shows and all that jazz. Take Care~K

May.30.2006

So, I'm back in Valpo, still waiting for the rest of the site to go up. I've got my CD release party here coming up on Saturday June 3rd at Espress Yourself on Silhavy in Valpo. The show starts at 8 and goes until however long I feel like playing (most likely a couple hours). There is NO COVER CHARGE! So, no reason not to come, darlings. As always, though, TIPS ARE APPRECIATED. :) I've got to start saving up for the European tour that is coming up in July. I'll post the dates for those as soon as I get the confirmations. But try to make it this Saturday if you have the chance. Bring friends. OH! And most importantly, bring $10 for the new CD "Blanket Sky" cause they are in my hands ready to be sold. Hope to see you all there! Take Care~K

May.18.2006

Hello all! As you can see, the website is still in progress of being completely set up, so I figure I'd give you some information regarding where you can get the CD. I'm selling them off of CD baby and you can find my page at www.cdbaby.com/cd/katemyers and buy it there online. I'm still working on other places to sell it. Fairly soon it should be on iTunes... everything is still just in progress. All the lovely people living in Valparaiso, Indiana, check back to see when my CD release party will be. I'll get the date as soon as I can. I will be back in the area on May 22nd booking dates around there and Chicago. Hope to see you at the shows! Take Care~K
